The two corners noting the transition between threshold and shop space are key experiential moments. The threshold and shop space contrast in terms of light and spacial qualities, user groups (public, private), and program activities. Physically engaging with the building attunes one to the built environment so the design considers stationary leaning and the body in motion as one turns these corners. As with the rest of Project RE_ reclaimed material patina is sanded off in tactile conditions. Here the corners are curved and contiguous with adjacent variegated pieces becoming gradually less curved and less contiguous transitioning into the cladding. The cladding’s datum lines are also obscured on the corners to add to their visual form. While the earlier iterations were physically more engaging for bodies in motion the final design is visually modest and offers a lot for stationary postures which are more common and impactful here.
